Laura was born in Middelburg (The Netherlands) as a daughter of a pianist and a violinist. Whilst growing up in Germany, Laura started playing the violin aged four under the guidance of her father, Radboud Oomens.
Amongst her teachers were Herman Krebbers, Uwe-Martin Haiberg and David Takeno.

Laura has a warm interest for chamber music. During her studies in London she was a member of the Schidlof Quartet . Laura was frequently invited for the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove in Cornwall. In 2005 she appeared in the chamber music series of Leighton House in London together with pianist Olivia Canolle.
In 2008 Laura recorded and performed "l'histoire du Soldat" by Igor Strawinsky with members of the Residentie Orchestra The Hague. Next to her activities as a musician Laura was the initiator and artistic director of the Unison Chamber Music Festival, a chamber music festival in the pitoresque scenery of Sangerhausen (Central Germany), which experienced two wonderful editions in 2009 and 2010.

Orchestral experience Laura gathered with the Norddeutsche Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra (NDR) in Hamburg,  Deutsche Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, European Union Chamber Orchestra, Scottisch Chamber Orchestra and Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchestra Berlin, amongst others. From 2007 to 2010 Laura was a member of the first violin section of the Residentie Orchestra The Hague under the baton of Neeme Järvi, in the last year as second concertmaster.

In 2010 Laura decided to walk new paths and thus to leave the Residentie Orchestra, desiring to develop further as a violinist and to focuss more on chamber music.
Laura is invited regularly to join ensembles such as the Dutch Chamber Orchestra and Amsterdam Sinfonietta, but also plays in symphony orchestras, the Royal Dutch Concertgebouw and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra included.

Since 2011 Laura is a member of the Redon Piano Quartet. Furthermore, together with her colleague Mikhail Zemtsov she initiated their new project "Close-up Classics", on which you can find more information in the main menu.
Laura plays a violin by J.B. Vuillaume (Paris ca. 1850), kindly lent to her by the National Musical Instruments Foundation of the Netherlands.
